shyataroo
new problem! So I was running my anti-spyware (got rid of the damn stupid widnows anti virus crap) and Ad-Watch and Spysweeper kept on showing this one file:userinit.exe (located in C:\windows\system32\ folder, along with various other .dll's and spyware) so I booted in safe mode and deleted it, couldn't log in, it would log me right out.Soo I looked it up and it tells me to try to do a repair install. I get about 10 minutes into it and all of the sudden it says: Fatal Error: Setup failed to install the product catalogs. this is a fatal error. the setup log files should contain more information. Here is what it says:Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllRegisterServer Failed.Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllReigistration failedError: setupqry:(0x80040201)SetFilterRegistryinfo()failedError: setupqry:(0x80040201) Aborting: caught an exceptionError: setupqry:(0x80040201 CompelteInstallation FailedError: Setup had problems registering the following OLE control DLL:D:\Widnows\system32\initpki.dllWarning Setup Failed to remove the product catalog(s)SP2.CATwmp10.catmpcd10.catmpstub10.catwmset10.catmsxmlx.catmppre.catdrm10.catcodecs.catwmfsdk.catwmdm10.catwpd10.catError: the signature for 'Windows XP Professional Upgrade is invalid. jason.b.c
userinit.exe (located in C:\windows\system32\ folder, along with various other .dll's and spyware) so I booted in safe mode and deleted it, couldn't log in, it would log me right out. What possesed you to do that...???? Why would you boot into safe mode and delete anything..???If you can't ( or shouldn't ) delete something in normal mode then why would you want to in safe mode..??Here is what it says:Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllRegisterServer Failed.Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllReigistration failedError: setupqry:(0x80040201)SetFilterRegistryinfo()failedError: setupqry:(0x80040201) Aborting: caught an exceptionError: setupqry:(0x80040201 CompelteInstallation FailedError: Setup had problems registering the following OLE control DLL:D:\Widnows\system32\initpki.dllWarning Setup Failed to remove the product catalog(s)SP2.CATwmp10.catmpcd10.catmpstub10.catwmset10.catmsxmlx.catmppre.catdrm10.catcodecs.catwmfsdk.catwmdm10.catwpd10.catSounds like you have a bunch of crap left over from the old anti-virus you had installed and it's interfering with what your trying to accomplish.....You need to try some registry cleaning....maybe if it's not too late... ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
... and some serious malware removal tool(s). I see no point of doing a repair install if you still have possible malware on your system.Try the free online scan at http://www.ewido.net/
