Mac zelot, needs help with windows XP

Recommended Posts

new problem! So I was running my anti-spyware (got rid of the damn stupid widnows anti virus crap) and Ad-Watch and Spysweeper kept on showing this one file:

userinit.exe (located in C:\windows\system32\ folder, along with various other .dll's and spyware) so I booted in safe mode and deleted it, couldn't log in, it would log me right out.

Soo I looked it up and it tells me to try to do a repair install. I get about 10 minutes into it and all of the sudden it says:

Fatal Error: Setup failed to install the product catalogs. this is a fatal error. the setup log files should contain more information.

Here is what it says:

Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllRegisterServer Failed.

Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)DllReigistration failed

Error: setupqry:(0x80040201)SetFilterRegistryinfo()failed

As far as I know, there is no Windows anti-virus so, what was it you actually got rid of?

What anti-virus software do you use?

What possesed you to do that...???? Why would you boot into safe mode and delete anything..???

If you can't ( or shouldn't ) delete something in normal mode then why would you want to in safe mode..??

Sounds like you have a bunch of crap left over from the old anti-virus you had installed and it's interfering with what your trying to accomplish.....

You need to try some registry cleaning....maybe if it's not too late...
