icevitaman359 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 I'm using Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 5.1.I go to "Control Panel", then I click "Sounds and Audio Devices", then I click "Advanced" for "Speaker settings", under the "Volume" tab. When I'm here, under "Speaker setup", I set it to "Desktop stereo speakers", then I click apply.After I do this my speakers sound great. However, whenever I restart my pc, these settings get resetted back to the surround sound (default) speaker setup. So I always have to do the above procedure, after Windows boots, in order to have my speakers set up correctly.I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me how I can make it so that Windows actually saves these changes that I make, so that I don't have to waste time setting it up every time I turn on my pc. It just seems that windows is not saving these changes I make, when I turn off my computer. Maybe is there some sort of a code I can edit that runs when windows shuts down? I used Startup Inspector and I closed a bunch of unneeded programs. I didn't have the patience to close one at a time, to find out which program was causing the problem, but I think it may have been Intel Audio Studio.
