christie
I am using a new HP x 19 flat screen connected a Sony VAIO tower via DVII have my Tv which has VGA input as a second monitor to the VGA input. The Display is (Multiple Monitors) on ATI RADEON 9600 Series. This was working while I ran xp home, theough the display/setting/advanced showed three monitors, the flat panel, the monitor (actually TV) and a greyed out TV which it said was not connected. Yesterday I installed xp Pro and now I can only see one monitor. While the installation was taking place the FP turned off and I couldn't see what was happening. When I turned the TV on and went to PC there was my desktop. As the installation completed the TV signal suddenly switched off and the FP came alive. When I right click on Desktop and get to the Display properties/Settings/Advanced there is no longer a further settings tab (which there was on xp home) and no way to see that there is a second monitor. If I click on monitor I see under monitor type the HP w19 LCD listed and below it Default monitor. Clicking on Properties on both tells me they are working correctly but I cannot get a picture on the TV PC screen.David Pogue's Missing Manual on Windows xp Pro says that multiple monitors do work under Pro. Can anyone help or do I start over and take Windows pro off?PS I have just discovered if I press Alt + F5 it does switch between monitors. nevertheless I seem to have lost the means of controlling the settings for monitor. i.e. it is invisible to the desktop. Does that make sense?
