Quite understandable if eveything had broken down, but I can actually surf the internet, only if I use IE!IE and msn messenger are the only 2 programs that work! Skype doesn't, firefox mozzilla opera don't, evrey update isn't working too... Oh, actually p2p programs seem to work ok, too (not bittorrent, though)Isn'it strange? I would then download hijackthis and create a log and post it in Hijack This and Spyware Removal Support. You never know malware can be very tricky. Do you use them regularly?Do you have a backup?I suggest that you urgently carry out the advice given by cozofdeath and run a Hijackthis scan. I installed cable internet for years and have had nothing but HORRIBLE incounters with NIS. If you are running NIS, this could be the problem.(I dont know why, but trust me, I have seen it for a very long time on many many computers) Even if security is OFF, scanner is OFF, I think it has conclicts with XP's firewall or something, I have waisted too many hours repairing this junk. Im not saying remove all security, NO, just use something else. To remove NIS, you first have to do an uninstall - it WILL error and crash.Restart Windows, try again. Now go to Norton Symantic website (either with working browser or another pc) and download the removal tool - (Notice how they KNOW their software is horrible... funnnnyyyyy)Make sure it is not in startup or registry run section. ...Restart again.Check internet.Install something worth spending your time on, Trash NIS and pee on it.:-) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
