-pops-
The SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-308B is what is known as a combi or combo drive that means it has a CD writer and a DVD reader facility in the same box. It will not write to DVDs.You can get DVD writers for about £30. Have a look at here for an idea of what's available. You can use this to replace your current device as it will also read and write CDs.To produce DVDs that will play on an ordinary DVD player you will need appropriate software to do this. CJ550
thanks for that info, when you say- "To produce DVDs that will play on an ordinary DVD player you will need appropriate software to do this".What kind of software, will it come with the DVDwriter? thanks
-pops-
Whether the software comes with the writer depends whether you buy a retail model or an IEM (bare box) one. You can replace your current drive with the new one so an OEM model looks viable. If you go with OEM this looks a good combination http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1020 together with http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1456Note that there are plenty of ther places to buy from but I find SVP are good value, quick and reliable.
