IE7 Settings For Windows Forum

Internet Explorer 7 has locked down many features that can lead to websites placing malicious software on your computer, and from a security point of view, this is excellent. The downside to this is genuine websites are also affected.

For those that use Internet Explorer 6, you will have grown familiar with the yellow infobar that pops up when something that isn’t trusted crosses its path. This is a minor annoyance, and in some instances can be turned off.

However in Internet Explorer 7, it has become more prominent. For example, if you are creating or replying to a topic and wish to add a hyperlink using the relevant buttons, the info bar will appear. You can select to temporarily allow the script to work, but in doing so, this will refresh the page and you will lose everything you have typed. This process will repeat once you close IE down and then visit the site again.

With security in mind, the best thing to do is add Windows Forum to a trusted sites list that is within IE. This will allow everything to run (with exception of major threats) with no hassle.

This is how to add Windows Forum to your trusted list:

Click Tools > Internet Options > Security

Select "Trusted Sites"

Click "Sites"

Uncheck the “https” option at the bottom of the dialog.

Add http://forums.windowsforum.org

Click Close.

Exit out of Internet Options, and you are done!

You are now able to view the forum with no prompts at all.
