Darkwind
hello allI was looking around the internet and eventually came apon the AMD website. I decided to look up my processor (AMD Turion 64) and discovered that it had something called 'Enhanced Virus Protection' the could be enabled with XP SP2."Oh good" I thought, "I'll just find out how to swich that on."After about an hour of futile searching I gave up and decided to ask if ahyone here knew how to enable the esoteric feature because AMD and Microsoft don't tell you so far as I can tell.I checked for help on my computer too and there wasn't. Has anybody had any luck with this because I'm stumped.thanks
dagwoood
Hello Darkwind and welcome to the forum :) The Enhanced Virus Protection you came across most likely refers Data Execution Prevention(DEP).Navigate to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System, click on the Advanced tab, click on the settings button in the Performance box and then click on the "Data Execution Prevention" tab. It's here you'll find if it's been enabled(should be by default in XP service pack 2).If you want to know what it does, from this DEP page there should be a blue link that reads "How does it work?". Just click on it and it'll provide some info.HTH, dagwoood.
