gimp
Hello there and thanks very much any help in advance!I got a problem with my old computer where I had ME installed when I bought it but recently replaced it by XPP. However, the problem is that I got a 'dirty' version of XPP and now I want to correct this by buying a genuine one from an official reseller. My question is as follows:I already ordered an UPGRADE for XPP - will entering the product key of my old ME and then of the upgrade do or do I have to reinstall ME and afterwards reinstall even XPP to get it working? I unfortunately didn't find an answer anywhere on the internet so sorry if I just haven't been looking thoroughly enough.
nellie2
If you are going to do a fresh install of XP Pro, then all you need to do is pop your Windows ME disk in the drive when it's asked for. XP will look at it, be happy that you have a previous version of Windows and then carry on with the install.
gimp
Oh thanks very much for the info and the damned quick reply! But actually I wasn't gonna re-install XP Pro but only enter the new key because basically everthing works just fine, So will this work, too? nellie2
Entering your new key should do it... how were you going to input your new key? By doing a repair install?
gimp
I don't know yet. I have so far assumed that there will be some way to do this when I click on resolve this problem (with this Microsoft Genuine test programme)...
