Reboots without reason, can someone decipher minidump file?

Hello,

From time to time my pc reboots without any reason :(

This can be very annoying especially since I use that pc for my work...

I have reinstalled everything and for a few weeks everything went fine but an hour ago, my computer rebooted again without any reason.

I have attached the minidump file.

It would be very very nice if someone could decipher the file and explain me what's the problem.

Does the Event Log show anything for the time of the reboot?

It says "save minidump" and:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007e (0xc0000005, 0x86bc6b0f, 0xb88a6c74, 0xb88a6970). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini093006-01.dmp.

you can just reboot, press "F8" before windows loads, till the menu pops up and select "disable automatic restart on failure".

asuming you have Windows XP. SP1+, then right down the complete error code, and we can try and assist you.

Bug Check 0x1000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M

The SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M bug check has a value of 0x1000007E. This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.

Bug check 0x1000007E has the same meaning and parameters as bug check 0x7E (SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED).

in my expierence, "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" is usually refrenced to a faulty driver. try getting updated drivers for all hardware. forcivly trying to create the above issue untill its corrected.

i have to make one more update to that, "0x1000007E" is the error, the addresses in the () after it are the IRQ addreses to the hardware affected.

open Device manager and check the hardwares IRQ addresses and match them to isolate the problem to what device.

you have to uncheck the option Automatically Restart... you can found this in Control Panel --> System --> Advanced (tab) --> Startup And Recovery

Thanks for the reply.

I disabled automatic restart but I already had installed all the latest drivers before the crash. I also don't find the IRQ addresses in the device manager and memtest doesn't give errors...

Since my post I haven't had any reboots yet, let's hope it stays that way...
