John Smith
Hi there guys !This is my first post in this forum, so please excuse any errors.I deleted some files trying to delete a spyware, and then the windows became unstable, I tried everything possible to repair/restore to previous date, but nothing worked. So I took a back up and formated windows as a last resort. Now after the new install, I chose the setting that documents should not be viewable between different user accounts. After I restored the documents from back up, I'm unable to open my documents from my previous settings. I'm only able to open the administrator account documents, but unable to open my real user account documents. It keeps telling me that access is denied. Although I can see that they are there. This also happened by chance, as I was installing drivers, I browsed and I was able to see that all my folders and documents in that user account are infact intact. I hope you guys are following my long story here. So the situation right now is, that I'm unable to open some documents from a restore that belong to a certain user account, which is my own. It keeps telling me that access is denied. How can I get back in, and get all my documents back.I will be very very gratefuly for any help in this regard.Thank you in advance for your time and any advice. -pops-
Are you saying you backed up from the already faulty Windows installation?
John Smith
Yes, that is right. The system was working, and I was able to get a back up. Although I was not able to open more than one browser window at a time, but other than that, the system was working. So I took a back up and then formatted the windows installation. I just want to make sure I explained myself properly the first time, I am able to see the documents, when I browse for a driver or something else. But when I double click the actual folder itself it doesn't come up empty, it only says, "access is denied", so the documents are safe, I've seen them, but I can not open it due to access probelms. :(

-pops-
Stick around - you might enjoy it here :) One thing I should say, though, is that you ought to have a backup ready at all times, not when disaster happens - which brings to mind stable doors and horses bolting. When you have your backup organised, keep it up to date as an out of date backup is next to being useless.
