espana2006
I’ve lost the ability to print anything and just get the message "There was an error found when printing the document xxx to yyy. Do you want to retry or cancel the job"I deleted all printers and then refreshed the printer files (stopped the spooler service, deleted C:\WINNT\system32\spool\drivers\W32X86. I reinstalled the standard fax software and set to default printer but still get "There was an error found when printing the document xxx to MSFAX. Do you want to retry or cancel the job"I was able to print/ fax last week and haven’t installed anything since then but the event viewer says autoupdate brought something in on 30 Sep 06.I can send fax output to a file but not to the modem for faxing. The modem works fine, can dial into an ISP without problem. Can anyone pls help? I have a laptop standalone with:W2K Professional v5.0.2195 SP4 Build 2195 (workstation)OS fully up to date 30Sep06 via autoupdateFAT32 file system21.4GB spare disk spaceThanks! ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum! It is possible that it is a hardware error. Can you check if there is any information at the time of the error in the Event Log?Also, can you check on the manufacturer's website if there is a newer printer driver available for download (in case it is not a hardware error)? espana2006
Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum! It is possible that it is a hardware error. The only real recent event of importance is the autoupdate- rest are IP related. Also, the error appears when I print to the MS doc imaging virtual printer and to CutePDF, suggesting a software problem. This really is an odd one- got me stumped. zhimsel
I'm trying to repair a computer that is having some printer problems. There is an error message that comes up when the user tries to print. The first time it came up, she restarted, and when the computer started back up, it gave her an RPC error message. This was about a month ago. She has tried reinstalling the printer, but another RPC error comes up, and nothing shows up in "Printers and Faxes". The printer is also not reported in the Device Manager. The odd thing is, she is able to successfully use the scanner (its is an all-in-one printer). I checked the system logs, and and I see some crazy activity. About every 2-3 minutes, the RPC service fails, giving this error message:The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2452 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.about 60 seconds later, it restarts, giving this message:The Print Spooler service entered the running state. This pattern repeats over the course of the system uptime (RPC fails, restarts 1 min later, fails again 2-3 min later, resarts, etc).\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\The system setup is as follows:- System: eMachines T2200- Windows XP Home (Version 2002) (Service Pack 2)- AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (1.79GHz)- 512MB RAM (480MB reported)- Printer: HP PSC 2210 all-in-one (latest drivers installed)/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
