I want to install a fresh version of windows on this harddrive and always boot windows on this harddrive when I want to work on my music project.. is this possible with a USB 2.0 harddrive pluged on my computer??? will it be better a firewire external??? can I boot that harddrive on another computer different than the main one I install windows in it?any help will be much apreciatethank youpatrick
NT7
I think that you can do this theoritically.Because we know that if you change the bios settings and make the usb external flash drive your first boot device, you can boot your PC from this boot disk so from your fresh windows or etc...But as I said THEORITICALLY...I think you can first try this method by buying 2 gb external disk ( dont waste money if it fails...) Scarecrow Man
1. It can be done, but it depends highly on your motherboard capabilities. It's best to check with your Instruction Manual, or the manufacturer of the motherboard.See this: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/usb-boot.mspx2. USB 2.0 is faster than FireWire. I would recomend USB 2.0 see this: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/usb20vsfirewire/3. You probably cannot boot this drive on any other computer, because the drivers will be installed specifically for the computer on which it is installed. Chances are you will have many headaches trying to move it to another set-up.
