I currently have Windows 2003, and I wanted to make sure if win98 installation won't mess anything up with drive letters etc with my existing Win 2003 installation? (I'm aware that it'll overwrite disk MBR, and I'll have to configure the bootloader).I also considered running games on a virtual machine, like VirtualPC or Vmware, but how it will affect speed? (I wanted to run primarily Gothic 2) Did anyone have any experience with such virtual machines?Here is my spec:Athlon XP 1700+768 RAMGF4MX 64MB cardDisk 1: (i'll disconnect it during inatall because the first partition on it is NTFS):Partition 1: letter C: NTFS with windows 2003Partition 2: letter E: NTFSPartition 3: ext3 with Gentoo Linux 2005.1Disk 2:Partition 1: letter I: FAT32 (i want to install win98 here)Partition 2: letter D: FAT32 with windows 2003Partition 3: letter F: NTFSThanks in advance for any advice regarding this! -pops- Posted October 18, 2006 Report Share Posted October 18, 2006 There are likely to be problems installing an obsolescent version of Windows (W98) on a system that already runs a current version.What I would do in your situation, if you have sufficient space, it to install a removable caddy in a five & a quarter inch drive rack (where a CD ROM normally fits).You could then alternate between your modern NTFS system and you old FAT 32 system will only a little trouble of shutting down and swapping the caddy. woodchip Posted October 20, 2006 Report Share Posted October 20, 2006 Could have something to do with it, But me, I have never had a Virus Malaware or anything in about 11 years of using a computer. Win98se is too old for the script kiddies to bother about now. probably get lost trying to write one for it. It's got to be push and go in these days for them all.
