AkumaKnight Posted November 4, 2006 Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 hello everyone. well ive been trying to burn this avi file into a dvd disk for a school projection ( college student). ive used winavi to convert ( convert process works fine) but when it comes to burning it on the cd it just stays in the burning screen for a long time with out burning anything on the disk. i have a double layer drive so i know its not that. any tips?summary: convert process works but does not burn into the cd or even looks like it tries to. im using the same program (winavi) to burn the cd. AkumaKnight Posted November 5, 2006 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 well the convert process goes ok its just the burning part. well the file is avi and im converting it into dvd format to burn on a dvd cd. when it says its going to start burning it just stays at zero (percent) for hours ( yes i have left it on for hours to see if my comp is slow or someting).i do have a double layer drive and it is working fine so its something else from the looks of it. dadyassa Posted November 5, 2006 Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 If it wont burn this, how do you know its working fine ?If you are trying to burn AVI onto a DVD you should get an error popup.Are you getting any error messages at all ?Have you burnt with it before ? Have you burnt using this make discs before ?As said before, if you want it on a CD then the AVI file will be fine.If you want it on a DVD then it will need converting to MPEG2 before burning.If it is a big AVI file it can take hours to convert to MPEG2, and it will not start the burn till it has finished converting.Dont know much about winavi, but I would take their claim of "A powerful AV compress engine can complete a whole AVI movie conversion and burn it to DVD just in 1 hour." with a pinch of salt ;) The system requirements, IE memory, seem extremely low in my opinion also.Maybe if you are doing it on a trial version, it is restricted somehow. AkumaKnight Posted November 5, 2006 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 I can tell people are confused so ill explain a bit better. i use winavi to convert my avi file in order to be burned into a dvd+r. i have tried to burn the project through winavi but thats where it doesnt even touch the dvd from the looks of it. i decided to try to burn it using nero and drag and drop the convert files made by winavi ( you know the 2 foldersaudio_ts and video_ts). it seems to work now but i ran out of dvd+r cd's trying to burn it using winavi burn future on it. dadyassa Posted November 6, 2006 Report Share Posted November 6, 2006 Are you sure your Burner is compliant with DVD+R discs ? some aren`t.I always burn with DVD-R, the only time I use DVD+R is when I burn on my stand alone recorder with the TV.
