avexhype Posted November 5, 2006 Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 Well, now when I turn on my computer, I don't even see the manafacturer's name on my computer screen, I think there is something wrong with my hard drive, I cant install either Windows Xp or the OS it came with, ME. When I turn on the computer, all I get is a gray screen, even when I put in the system recovery CD, nothing happens, I've opened the CPU, I think I have to do something with the hard drive.....please help and thanks... How old of a computer are we talking about.? Just curious , Because you said WinME ( the original )...I'll bet the hard drive is ok but as far as the MOBO goes i think it's had it... If so, is that beep the same as it's always been or is it different? If different, can you describe it (the "correct" beep is one short beep)?Six years is quite old for a computer and I think you should be prepared for the worst. I think two beeps means bad ram , Three i think is low ( bad ) volts and so on...Six years is quite old for a computer and I think you should be prepared for the worst.Yes , Absolutely...6-7 yrs old + hardcore (greyscreen) trouble = buy a new computer.. avexhype Posted November 5, 2006 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2006 I only get beeps when I press the F8 button as many times as I push it...No, wait, its actually not a beep sound, but It sounds like the computer is trying to do something but it cant, I cant describe the sound....
