Scarecrow Man
I realize that the USB 2.0 standard requires a USB 2.0 Enhanced Controller, and there are many manufacturer's.My question is, is it possible to upgrade a USB 1.0 or 1.1 controller to a USB 2.0 controller without having to add new hardware. cozofdeath
Sure! I didn't really know what else to say. It sounded like you wanted a yes or no answer. But I have heard that the expansion cards are fairly cheap. :D I wish there was a software way to upgrade but as you know its all hardware based. But I have heard that the expansion cards are fairly cheap. :D I wish there was a software way to upgrade but as you know its all hardware based. That was the perfect answer. I was looking for a Yes or No, and I already knew it wasnt possible. I was just curious.Expansion cards are quite cheap. I can pick up a 5 port USB 2.0 PCI card (4 external, 1 internal) for $24.99 CDN at the local shop. Double that to 48.98, and I now have 10 USB 2.0 ports. Most new computers come with 4, 6 or 8.
