AdamCohn Posted December 21, 2006 Report Share Posted December 21, 2006 Is it possible to install Windows on a drive that is running off a Raid card?Here's what I am trying to do: my old SCSI 9GB C drive wasn't big enough, and I am having other windows problems, so I want to reformat and this time do it on a larger hard drive. My next largest HD, a 75GB IDE, is not plugged directly into the motherboard, but interfaces through a PCI card, which if I remember right is a Raid card enabling me to add these IDE drives. When I go to boot off the XP CD to install, and the only drive I have plugged in is the IDE one, it tells me that there are no HDs installed. The BIOS recognizes the drive is there, but not the boot CD. Am I trying to do the impossible, installing on this drive? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When you're installing XP and it gets to the stage where is says to press F6 to install a RAID or SCSI driver, have you installed one? I think you should be able to do what you're trying to do but you have to install the driver at the press F6 stage(it's fairly early on in the install procedure).
