Computer random shutdown/freezes

hi all, i 've got a windows xp 64 bit professional edition. i've used my pc for just 1 month, and recently it kept shutting down randomly and i dont know what's the problem. it's nt the monitor problem. i've checked. and when i want to restart it again, it doesnt boot. windows just doesnt boot. and .... after i left my pc in that "idle state" for a while. it booted windows on its own after an hour. can some1 help me address my issue?

If you can, you might try to boot into safe-mode and run a virus scan. B)

If the machine is new:

i've used my pc for just 1 month

then return it to the supplier. A new machine shouldn't behave like this and if you haven't done anything that may cause this effect then the shutdowns may be a symptom of something more sinister.

this issue comes up on macs and many final release "suposedly not betas", but they are, and applying to new architectures.

1. lots of people have had this on various systems, ESPECIALLY new stuff.

2. report it to microsoft,and other technical sources of influence

it sounds like a low level os bug, though other things may cause it.

Note what you may be doing when it happens, is it pure idle, is it when you access a particular app, etc.

check your power config, if disks, monitors, and other system supoorts, are going into an idle state, at a specific interval, this may help debug, i think it is a low level hardware to board driver bug, which new architectures, trying to evolve to fast, in complex systems, often have to iron out with other driver, service and hardware interfaces to the new. Post a solution, if you find it please. good luck
