rayne
i'm pretty clueless with this stuff, and for some reason my internet shut down, even though it was still connected to the wireless router, and the other computer (the one i'm on now) is working fine. When i ran the troubleshoot that came with MSN Messenger, it said that my default gateway appears to be offline, and i was wondering how to change it so it's online, if thats even the problem.any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, rayne
cozofdeath
You most likely don't have a ip address for the computer. A simple way to tell is to open a command prompt and type ipconfig. You will also be able to see your default gateway in the output. If there is no default gateway then your not connected to the router, if there is no ip your not connected to the router but you can still "talk" to it. If you could post that output here it would help and it wouldn't compromise your security. The Networking forum has much more info on this stuff on the pinned posts at the top of the board. Some of the veterans here have worked hard on them. Oh, but before really getting into troubleshooting make sure all the cables are definitely connected right. I'm not saying your stupid but it happens to the best of people.
