jeg1972
Is it possible to slave an older HD that uses the old ribbon cable to a new system that uses the, I think it's the parallel cables, newer HDs? Is there some sort of an adaptor or something would allow you to do that?

Just curious... The reasons I often (not always) refer to Maplin as suppliers are:1. They have a range of electronic "oddities" not easily found elsewhere unless you know what you're looking for.2. They are one of the UK's largest suppliers of electronic components to the public.3. They have large number of stores throughout the UK where items can be conveniently collected as well as having an efficient mail order and e-business.The reason I don't refer to US based suppliers is because I, and Windows Forum, are UK based and we are not so familiar with US (or Australian) suppliers. I did allude to that in my first reply.I am not recommending Maplin as a supplier any more than I recommend any other supplier that I give references for. It is just that it is likely that Maplin sell the item and if they do, as I have that company bookmarked, it is convenient for me to link to that rather than making extra effort sorting out somewhere else as a supplier. It is entirely up to you where you would purchase any item from - at least from the link I gave you have an idea of what is available (which was the question asked in the first place) and you are then at perfect liberty to use that information to shop wherever you want to as you appear to have done with your extra links in answer to my first post here.I can understand why you, in the USA, wouldn't want to use Maplin from the point of view of pricing but this is not Maplin's fault. It is the fault of living in "rip-off Britain" and you will find that, compared to the USA, all prices of just about everything are higher here. This is made even worse at the moment because of the unfavourable exchange rate (for you) of almost two dollars to the pound Sterling.
