ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Are you a member of Expert Exchange? You know that we have to be a (paid) member to view the answer(s) to a question? There is a very large thread on Castlecops with lots of information on the Windows Indexing Service; see http://www.castlecops.com/postx24144-0-0.html (I didn't read it all, as I do not run CISVC.EXE on my system). cozofdeath
You should be able to view the whole thing. If you try to view I think more than two of their threads you will not be able to without signing up. So you should be able to view that link 2 times before having to log in to view another. I have signed up there a long time ago but it was to solve a problem, after that I tried helping people but I eventually left. That forum is so packed with people.
