Eula Question

Recommended Posts

I just aquired a new computer, and I'm contemplating installing the os. I want to install windows 2000 server, but I have only one copy which is already installed on my other computer. If I read the eula correctly (IE- glanced at it and didn't really read it), it mentions something about having the right to install only one copy.

I'm wondering if I am allowed to install it on my computers w/o a problem, and I should have read the whole thing; or do I really have to buy another copy of the disk?

BTW- I know it will install/update/etc with no problem, I just want to know if it's legit. My theory (hope) is yes because I'm not making copies of my original, or giving the copies/product key away to anyone.

Thanks for the info ...unfortunately <_<

Next related question- it's not neccesarily server capability that I'm looking for- although that would give me more flexibility. It's the remote management/terminal services stuff that is the most important. I haven't really seen anything in win98/2000 pro that let you add 'host ts-sessions functionality' to yer setup. Am I missing something (is it really there)?

When You buy a piece of software, you buy it with one end user licence. This only entitles you to install it on one machine, you can install it on another machine but only un-installing it from the first.

This is where the grey area is, because who's to say whether you have uninstalled it from the first? It's not as if somebodys going to come round to your house and check.

I think at the end of the day it boils down to your own conscience.

Well- my question was really geared towards enabling a windows 98, or windows 2000 computer as a terminal services host. The problem is that I need a way to control several computers from one computer. It looks like the only way I can do this is by installing a bunch of copies in win2k server.

ok so my brains not working at this time in the morning...... there is a way to do this... I will need to sleep on it.

PC Anywhere springs to mind as the simplest solution.

Look for 1 remote and 5 host

I must admit though My network is using server 2003 and w4 win xp clients and the server controls them all.
