All,

For those that have Logitech Webcams, you will find that Logitech have not released any Windows Vista software or drivers (except for the most recent webcams).

Well, he is a work around to get your webcams working.

  • First of all, download the Windows Vista version of the Logitech Quickcam software (you can download this direct from logitech, just select the most recent webcam on the list available, (currently the Logitech® QuickCam Ultra Vision)).
  • Once downloaded, install it.

  • You will find that your webcam still remains as 'unknown' device in the Windows Device Manager, and the software cannot detect it. Dont worry, just finish the installation without configuring the webcam.

  • Next, visit the logitech website again, and download the most recent Windows XP version of the sofware available for your webcam.

  • Now, launch this installer and let it do its thing. When it pops up the message saying a newer version of the software is installed, say OK and let the installer quit.

  • Now pop into the Windows Device Manager and double click on the 'unkown' device and select to reinstall the driver. You will need to manually browse to the following folder:

    "C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall"

  • Click OK, and Windows will now install the webcam driver.

If all goes according to plan, the driver will be installed successfully, and you will be able to use the new Quick Cam software and any other application that makes use of your webcam.
