You will need to do a new installation. Windows 2000 Pro allows upgrading to XP Pro, but not Home.If you need help installing XP Home we will be glad to assist you, but it is not possible to upgrade 2000 Pro to XP Home. And anyway, Dell install disks are usually OEM disks that won't install on another machine at all.Why not just keep Windows 2000 - it is a very stable OS (although no longer supported by Microsoft). Windows 2000 support has moved into what is known as "Extended Support" basically meaning: "Microsoft will not accept requests for warranty support, design changes, or new features during the Extended support phase."
