Internet Explorer randomly failing???

Ive never really had problems with my connection before but recently i have started getting random problems occuring.Im on AOL (for my sins!) and it has started failing to bring up sites and all i get is the internet explorer failure to connect screen telling me it could be one of a few issues (you know,the standard checks),having checked EVERY possible problem stated AND completed the XP connection fault finder but still it goes on.Like i said it can happen constantly or not at all and dosnt seem to be based on logic???Im not sure if its Internet Explorer at fault as sometimes ill get half a loaded screen and overlapped with the failure to connect to site message,also if im having one of those days where it constantly occurs i sometimes get pages that dont contain any pictures or adverts just a VERY stripped down version of the original page with pictures replaced with blank boxes with small red cross's as if to save memory in some way.I know what your probably thinking but i have checked ALL my security settings.Ive lowered everything to accept cookies,animated media etc. given permission to my firewall to accept everything necessary but still it goes on.Can anyone help,sorry if im a bit vague,but as it says,NEWBIE!!!Cheers.

Try WinSockFix and LSPFix. These programs will fix your socket layer, which is usually corrupted by malware and is one of the most common reasons for random connection problems. The LSPFix program does require some knowledge of what to remove from the winsock stack. So try WinSockFix first.

You should check your pc for spyware , i recomend spybot for this kind of work

Had the same problem when I downloaded IE 7 .. I blamed AOL and changed to Virign .. same problem .. finally after 3 weeks on the fone to India and who knows where .. IE foned me back and I had to wipe Everything from my computer and Reinstall from Dell CDs .. A nightmare ..

IE were helpful but didn`t sort the problem just said this happens ..

I have the same IE 7 in America and it works beautifully .. ..

Try foning them .. hold on and talk to a human then a techie and ask them to fone you back .. they will .. Unlike Dell Virgin AOL to name a few ...All digits crossed ............s

Yep there is something wrong with IE7 in Australia anyway.

It buggered up my connections. Still not right as sometimes get both sorts, and also getting a lot of disconnects. (ADSL.)

Gave me a lot of nonsense about not being in the phone book when it was supposed to redial broadband.

Got a lot of cant connect to sites.

So rolled it back to IE6 for those sites that Firefox cant access or like Crickey where you get IE when you click onto their links.

Now use Firefox.

I was told there was a patch to cure this problem coming this month but if it came I didn't get it but then not installed so maybe not.

That was told to me on an Australian techie site.

I do wonder why you can remove it anyway as never could before.

maybe they felt it was not yet 100% but Firefox was looming large on the horizon :D there it is bold as brass on Remove programs. :lol:

I just tried both of these programs as I have problems since I installed and uninstalled IE7 - 3 times and now its in limbo in my program file.

WinSockFix did something but flashed up fast.

LSPfix found no problems.

Good little programs, thanks now in my tool box :D
