savage om
Anyone know if it's possible to connect to a windows 2000 professional computer running netmeetings 'desktop sharing' (host) using windows XP's remote desktop connection (client- not the netmeeting version; the typical remote desktop program)? bvw
Remote Desktop Connection Software DownloadThis software package will install the client portion of Remote Desktop on any of the following operating systems: Windows 95, Windows 98 and 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, Windows NT® 4.0, or Windows 2000. (This is the same verion of the client software as in Windows XP Service Pack 1.) When run, this software allows older Windows platforms to remotely connect to a computer running Windows XP Professional with Remote Desktop enabled.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/dow.../rdclientdl.aspNot sure if this is helpful for you or not, but it might be
savage om
It sort of helps...... except its the wrong way. The computer with windows 2000 professional is supposed to be the host, and the computer with windows XP is supposed to remotely connect to, and control the win2k pro system as a client. You are on the right track because the program you linked to is windows XP program I want to use.Windows 2000 professional does not come with terminal services (like win2k server), nor does installing the remote desktop software give the win2k computer the ability to host. Win2k pro does come with netmeeting which has an option for 'remote desktop sharing'.I think traditionally, you are supposed to connect using another machine using netmeeting (the win xp client would connnect to the win2k pro host using netmeeting), but I'm wondering if I can do it using remote desktop instead---and if so, how. bvw
I'll try to find options, you decide their capabilities :) Remote PC Access software lets you securely access your PC from another PC (even if it is thousands of miles away), access files on your PC, view the screen of your PC, and control its keyboard and mouse as if you were sitting in front of it. Remote PC Access works over any network which supports standard TCP/IP protocol (this includes the Internet, corporate networks, home networks, and direct PC to PC phone connections) http://www.access-remote-pc.com/It does mention a free trial and might be worth a look.
