How to add existing user to an organisational unit?

I have a user on a server that, for some reason, isn't a member of the main organisational unit. But I can't work out how to add the user to this unit, and searching the web has just thrown up very complicated entries in the Microsoft support database that leave me none the wiser.

Can anyone help?

I do not quite understand the term "organisational unit"; do you mean domain?

You should just be able to right click on the OU and selet add object or something like that then select a user. You can probably even drag a user onto the OU and have it be applied. An OU is like a container for permissions on a domain. But they can be applied to any object such as a computer or domain.

cozofdeath, where do you suggest I look to find something like "add object"?

If I bring up the Active Directory Users and Computers application I can see the organisational unit there, and it doesn't contain the user in question. Right-clicking on it doesn't offer any way I can see of adding an existing user (though it does let me create a new user, not much use).

I can also summon a list of user accounts in the Server Management tool, which evidently doesn't restrict itself to any particular OU. The user account shows up there, but again I can't find any option, property or tool to add the user to an OU... just to security groups.

I can't drag and drop in either of those applications.

Is there another place I should be looking?

Ah, no matter, I found a trick. In the Active Directory app I right-clicked on the domain, selected 'Find', entered the user's name and brought them up in the search results. I then right-clicked on the user and selected 'Move' which enabled me to move the user into the appropriate OU.
