ddsdavey Posted January 27, 2007 Report Share Posted January 27, 2007 Ive recently had a problem with my proper computer so while its playing up ive dragged out my OLD Pentium 2 Compaq Presario (before you start,I KNOW!!!) and the Cd rom (cdu701-q im not sure but is it a Sony (sorry!)) does not recognise blank cd media (Maxell cd-r).I can play music or data cds no problem but when i put a blank cd in it simply brings up the spinning cd icon on the pointer (if that makes sense!).Am i being completely dumb assuming it burns when it dosnt?Sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasnt sure where to go to get decent help and have always found you guys spot on so fingers crossed.Cheers. The only information I can find about it indicates it is a CD ROM and there is no mention of it having writing capabilities.Have a look in My Computer and see how that describes the device.
