bazmich Posted February 14, 2007 Report Share Posted February 14, 2007 Hi, My system crashed recently with blue screen, reboot, blue screen, reboot, on and on. Windows log stated non-recoverable fatal error. I re-installed my original Windows XP disk after re-formating the hard drive. After reinstall I downloaded updates for SP1 then updated to Service Pack 2, plus all available security updates. After which I reloaded all my programmes. This brought me back to the state my system had been running for 2 years. Since then I get the blue screen approx every 3-4 hours, telling me that Windows will close for protection of itself. After rebooting a message states that Windows had recovered from a serious error. I have a System Suite utility, Disk Fixer, that scans for problems on the hard drive. I run this after the blue screen and am told that 'disk fixer found problems with the file system. Run CHKDSK/R to correct these problems'. This I do and then run the utility again to see if the problem has been cured, which it has. Approx every hour of working on PC, I run the utility again to see if it is still clear fearing a crash, but get the same message to run CHKDSK/R for the same reason, which I do. I'm spend more time trying to correct this problem than actually working with PC. I use, always running AVG antivirus plus firewall, Adaware Pro, Spyware Blaster and Secretmaker which I have done for the past 2 years with no problems. Can anybody help me. If you can, simply write down the important error info when it happens and post it here. There could be many reasons for this error thats why some more info will help. Another troubleshooting tip that may help solve this faster is checking your event viewer for errors. You can do that by clicking the Start button, select Run and type eventvwr.msc. When your event viewer opens check all log files on the left side (Application, Security, System) for any errors. If there are any around the time of the bluescreen post them here.
