Mski Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 HeyI've been using a dual boot for about two months now with XP and Linux, they've been working fine until I recently tried to boot XP. XP ended up restarting my computer on the XP logo screen regardless of which option I took (Safe Mode, Last Known Configuration, etc.) However, my Linux partition is working fine. There's no error messages I can see, either. I tried to use the repair feature from the XP setup disk but it couldn't detect my hard drive. I also tried an XP recovery CD but that also couldn't detect my hard drive.I have an ASRock ConRoeXfire-eSATA2 motherboard with a Seagate Barracuda SATAII drive.Any ideas? You may need to press F6 as the CD boots (it asks you to press F6), and specify the location of the driver. It will have come with your motherboard package, and is usually located on a single floppy disk.I should also mention, that repairing or changing the boot sector with the Windows XP Disc, will probably erase lilo or grub (which boots linux) so you will need to repair it. I've already tried this but XP does not detect my hard drive.By the way, the SATAII drivers that came with the motherboard are on a CD not a floppy. You'd think that XP would recognise my hard drive considering I installed it about 3 months ago with the same disk on the same hard drive, though. The drivers you mention are probably for after you install Windows.The drive not being seen makes me think the drive is not working properly. Does Linux boot as normal?
