Mare Posted February 22, 2007 Report Share Posted February 22, 2007 Hi everyone,I removed bunch of viruses from my friends pc, he is running windows xp sp2, local area was not working. After checking services, seems that ipsec was not running and couldn't run, some error 10106. Further research point that winsock needed reinstall, I done that with some program WinsockxpFix, nothing changed. Seems that it was only working for Sp1, then I read that I need to reinstall Internet Tcp/Ip, I done that, but before I remove with regedit winsock and winsock2. Rebooted, installed Tcp/Ip rebooted. Nothing changed. By mistake, I don't know why I done that started some program called Lspfix, he removed file called mswsock.dll. Reboot. Further research I found self healing for winsock, all I was need to run was command prompt and command netsh winsock reset. After trying to this I get error"This application failed to start because mswsock.dll was nit found. Reinstalling application may fix this problem. The following helper dll cannot be loaded: ifmon.dll. Can someone please advice, how to fix this problem. Thanks a lot Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Using the LSPFix program is not recomended without knowing exactly what you are doing. It contains good and bad entries so removing something you are unsure of can cause problems.
