It doesn't power off, it just sits there.Sometimes I get to the multiboot selector, select, Enter, then it stops. Sometimes it stops before that.I have to power it off, try again, and usually after four or five tries it starts Windows successfully. No problems after that stage. I can rebot - no problem.But once the power has been off, it will do that again, each time.I think it's some hardware problem, but I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to hardware. :( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted February 25, 2007 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 I would guess it's a failing power supply unit.I've seen a similar thing several times where a PSU seems unable to provide enough "oomph" immediately after switching on. This may be due to the large output-smoothing capacitor not being sufficiently charged before it is required to supply current to the computer unit. cozofdeath Posted February 25, 2007 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 When the computer is first turned on the power supply prevents the computer from taking any action by maintaining an electrical signal called "Power Good" in the off state until all power supply voltages have settled into the normal operational range.Just got this from a site, it ties in with what the others have said.
