Time Sync

Hello

I have a conflict when synching time. My network time at the university is 2 minutes fast than the actual time. I have it set to sync with windows time server, but quickly unsychs. Is there a way to disable the network time?

Double click the clock > Internet Time tab. Untick 'Automatically syncronize with an Internet Time Server.'

Chances are, your universities time is unsynched, not yours.

You can also check the time online @ http://nist.time.gov/ (accurate to .3 seconds)

Thanks for the reply. I do have it set to do that, the problem is it still advances the time to whatever the university has. Can their network time be disabled so my computer ignores it?

Is there a way to disable the network time?

Press Windows+R, type services.msc, hit enter. Scroll down to Windows Time, right click on it and select properties. From there you can stop the service or disable it.

I don't understand how its syncing with a server its not told to connect to though?

Wow! That worked. Thanks so much. I read it automatically syncs with your network connection, which was 2 minutes fast evidently. So every time I synced with a time server, it would eventually sneak 2 minutes ahead. It's not doing that anymore though. Thanks again!
