Now i've got a windows XP Homedition CD. Would there be any problem installing windowXP from my cd or would it require Win VISTA only. As DOS is pre-installed the prices are low. kindly tell me if this config. is advisable for general purpose use. Also the AMD comes with 512kb L2 Cache. Does a 512 KB L2 Cache, 2.0 Ghz system perform slower than a Intel 1.8 Ghz, 2 MB L2 Cache?someone please put some light on these issues before i buy the laptopregards, thaddeus fernandesIndiaEmail address deleted for security.Edited by -pops-
trackrat
In answer to the last part, your AMD processor is far superior to the Intel 1.8 ghz.The specification of the laptop will certainly run XP with no problems, but Dell generally put there OS's on a hidden partition, I do not know if it would affect you loading XP.Someone else will have to advise you on that. cozofdeath
If it has DOS it should be fine to put XP on it. I don't think any restore partitions would have been put on as there is no xp to restore.
