Kenbo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Share Posted March 20, 2007 I'm using Windows XP Pro.I'm having a weird problem with both Windows and Internet explorers. If I have a window open and am not using that specific window for awhile, everything inside the window stops working. I can't click on anything or scroll it. I can minimize, maximize, and close the window with no errors. Task manager shows the window as "Running". (I would have expected "Not Responding") I've check my start-up programs and see nothing unusual there either.It started a couple of weeks ago. There are days at a a time when I'm not here and my daughter uses the PC. So I can't be sure that she didn't do anything. Let me know if you need more info. If that doesn't turn up anything, I would next check the size of your paging file (virtual memory) - it may be too small. Is there enough free space on your C: drive or partition?Also check the Task Manager's Proccesses tab if there are any processes using high amounts of CPU. I ran both spybot and adaware. everything was clean. (pobably should have mentioned that in my original post :) )I don't see anything taking up CPU time either.my VM is set to a min of 1532 and a max of 3072 and I have over 20GB free on my C dirve. CPU brand and c**k speed. any video card you might have.Oh, even if you have a mid range powerful PC. If you have tons of programs running in the task bar, that can really slow down your PC, and in some cases as in yours it might lock up programs.Hope that helps a little.
