Desktop problem.

Um, I'm really good with the Windows OS series. But this one problem has happened to me several times, and I don't know what to do. My desktop, (background), whatever you want to call it. It only accepts .bmp image files. It will not work with anything else. I get tired of converting all my .jgp wallpapers to .bmp. Any help on this subject would be very appreciated.

If you turn off Active Desktop, it should accept jpg, bmp or gif. I believe it also accepts others, but these are the most commonly used.

OK, I don't think it was enabled. I followed these steps.

Question:

How to enable / disable windows active desktop.

Answer:

Microsoft Windows XP users

Open the Control Panel.

Open Display Properties.

Click the Desktop tab.

Click the Customize Desktop button.

Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window.

If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check "My Current Home Page". Add your current home page into your desktop or click New to add another web page and/or other Active Desktop features. To update the content, click the Synchronize button.

I do remember getting some spy-ware that made itself look like active desktop, I think.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure all check-boxes in this window are unchecked.

Hmmmm.. What if you were to enable Active Desktop?
