clos
For a while now I've been using an add-on PCI network interface adapter instead of my onboard ethernet. All was going fine when I decided to remove the NIC card and just use my onboard port. The reason why I wanted to remove it was because it was confusing linux, and I had to manually set up my internet connect everytime I booted into it. I also have never needed more then one ethernet port so I just decided to get rid of it.Anyways I take the NIC out of my computer, plug the ethernet into the onboard port, restart my machine but when I get into windows It doesn't see it. Under network connections I see two things:Local Area ConnectionConnected, FirewalledHP EN1207D-TX PCI 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter <--- The NIC I removed...I had to put it back to get a connection1394 ConnectionConnected, Firewalled1394 Net AdapterNow recently I added a PCI firewire card, is that the 1394 connection? Doesn't make sense to me but thats what 1394 is, right? Also, in the Device Manager under 'Other Devices' I see something called 'Ethernet Controller'. I go into the properties and try to update the driver, but Windows says it can't find it (this is while I'm using the NIC, and have a connection to the internet)I know that the onboard ethernet port works because I used that instead of the NIC under linuxAny Help at all would be great
