Guest Nellie2
A blast from the past has been in touch!! Among other things we got talking about PC's etc and he isn't very clued up in that department....yet!! But he did ask me a question and I haven't got a clue because I know nothing about AOL. Apparently AOL isn't compatable with outlook....not sure if he means outlook express too. Anyway, is there a program similar that he could use to download his emails into from AOL?? Chris
Anyway, is there a program similar that he could use to download his emails into from AOL??Afraid not, AOL do not allow access to their email servers through any third party mail client. They want you to use AOL's own.A blast from the past has been in touch!! Sir Radfordin
Djohn from PCA claims there is some AOL plugin that will allow you to use a 3rd party email client. May be worth poping into PCA (www.pcadvisor.co.uk) to see if someone suggests something. It is a major downside to AOL but one of the few. They don't use normal pop3 and smtp protocols which is why it only works with their software. Not very considerate but then M$ do the same thing!
