ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted April 16, 2007 Report Share Posted April 16, 2007 I have a friend who wants to install Japanese Windows XP on his English Windows XP for his Japanese wife.However, he does not have Partition Magic, the tool that I have always used when installing Windows onto a second partition.Question: does Windows setup have its own mechanism to partition a HD during Windows installation? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Share Posted April 16, 2007 Standard Windows does not have MUI; it is delivered as US-English, UK-English, Geman, French, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Exactly the same functionality, but the language interface is static as the language you bought the thing with.I just thought of another way that would not require partitioning: Microsoft Virtual PC - and install Japanese Windows under VPC. Seshomaru Samma Posted April 17, 2007 Report Share Posted April 17, 2007 We have lots of XP pro boxes at work which work in both Chinese and English. That is you can choose the language the menus are displayed in . One user can choose UK-English while another user ,on the same machine can use Taiwanese Chinese or whatever. This was achieved with a Microsoft MUI software (not sure if software is the right word here, it's a CD, has many languages support options including Japanese) which for some reason only work on English language XP. So you can make an English XP display Japanese and English but you can't get a Japanese XP to display English... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cozofdeath Posted April 19, 2007 Report Share Posted April 19, 2007 Just in case you still need this or someone else runs a cross this you can change partition information from the Windows setup and from the recovery console by using the diskpart command.
