I do not believe you can skip the password, but perhaps there is a way to remember it.Unfortunatley, I cannot remember off the top of my head, as it has been a year or so since I've used Windows 2000. Anyone on our network can access the computer.On the computer in question, with Windows 2000 professional, it requires a password to access it? I still get the password prompt??We are all on the same workgroup through our router.The folder anyone can use. I tried to go through all the steps on my WIn2000 machine and realized your information was for a XP machine. cozofdeath Posted April 19, 2007 Report Share Posted April 19, 2007 Sorry I don't have Win2000 to check but this page claims anonymous connections are on by default. So when someone logs in they should only have to type guest to get in but I'm sure theres a policy setting to have people automatically login with out getting the authentication box. Maybe I am just unsure how to set up these policy settings??I have given full permissions to Users, Power Users, Administrators, every listed item has full access.I really don't know the difference of the two computers with Win2000?I can get on one but not the other without a password?Both of them do not require a password when the computer starts, this is fine, I would rather this be the case.Not sure what to do next? cozofdeath Posted April 21, 2007 Report Share Posted April 21, 2007 Start, run, type gpedit.msc and that will open the group policy editor. There should be a setting in there to allow this.
