Hi

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this,

I want to access the registry of another pc on the network. I want to do that with a different user than the one I'm logged.

I'm logged on my pc with 'user1'. But to have access to the remote registry i should be logged in my pc as 'user2'.

How can I access the remote registry without changing the my user. I know the user and password of the admnistrator of the remote registry

Thanks

Sam

Welcome to the Windows Forum!

Question: how to you want to "access" the registry on the remote computer - just access the files, or actually opening it with regedit? If you want to regedit, then you must really logon to the remote computer, and it doesn't matter what user you are logged in locally.

To login to the remote computer you must use a tool such as Remote Desktop to connect; see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/m...ty/default.mspx for some basic information on remote desktop connections.

Any other access to files on a remote computer - e.g. view, change, copy, etc - you can just access them via Windows Explorer through the network by its computer name, like \\remotename

I want to access the remote registry with the RegEdit ( and with an application that i'm developing).

If i'm logged in my computer with 'user2', I can use 'file/Connect network registry...' and have access to the registry and change it on the remote pc.

But if I'm logged in my computer with 'user1', If I use 'file/Connect network registry...' of the RegEdit, I can see two keys : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS but I receive an erro when I try to open the key : "Cannot open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE : Error while opening key".

What I would like to do is same when you log yourself to another network drive using another user.

example : net use \\computer\share /User:MyDomain\administrator Password

I want to do this but with the registry. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance

Sam
