Windows Messenger 5.0 Release Candidate Released

Release Candidate Build 0335

It won't be long now, especially with this release candidate hitting the net, before the final release of Windows Messenger 5.0. ;) I prefer this version to the MSN one.

The Release Candidate of Windows Messenger 5.0 has just appeared on BetaPlace. Three different language versions are already available, including English, Japanese and German. The downloads are all around 8.3 MB. There is no word on changes, fixes or improvements. I've received no announcement mail yet, but it should be sent out to beta testers soon I guess. Here is what BetaPlace says:

"Our new Release Candidate bits are here! You will notice we how have three languages to download English, Japanese and German! They are ready for you to test and provide us with feedback. Please try it out and we look forward to your posts!"

Windows Messenger 5.0 Release Candidate 2 Build 0337

Microsoft has updated Windows Messenger 5

Some of you may have noticed that we had a previous Release Candidate (Build 0335) out over the weekend. We found one deployment bug that we had to fix. This caused us to rebuild to build 0337. There is no difference in general functionality between the two builds and if you have the old 0335 build you can keep that one and you do not have to upgrade to 0337.

Important changes:

Warn .NET users of possible spam and give them a chance to change their default privacy option to block non-buddies.

Fixes to setup to reduce the chances of needing a reboot plus offer an accurate list of processes that need to be closed in order to avoid rebooting.

Fixed some connectivity issues.
