qckdrw Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 When i start up my PC, the windows interface often becomes unresponsive. I can still move my mouse around, but cant click any icons, launch any applications, use the task manager. The only solution I've found is to hit my reset button and reboot, it works correctly the second time. I'm running windows XP SP2 home edition on a computer i built myself. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Just as a note, it recently started doing this a few weeks ago, before that it was as fast as i needed and more. Did you install something like that recently?But there is of course also the chance of a malware infection; did you scan your system for viruses, troyans, spyware, etc? qckdrw Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 11, 2007 I've recently installed a few windows updates, but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. I ran a virus scan just yesterday and nothing came up. same with spyware/adware. Sakura Posted May 11, 2007 Report Share Posted May 11, 2007 Hi qckdrw :) I've recently installed a few windows updates some time ago i managed to install an update twice and this caused problems within the OS so it may be a good idea to check (go to add and remove tick "show updates, if it is not ticked" and scroll through your updates if you do have two the same remove one. qckdrw Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 11, 2007 I skimmed through ym programs (with the show updates tick checked) and there were no updates that were the same. Earlier today though, i looked at my keyboard manager and saw that there awas a new version. I've sense installed it, so ill see if it makes a difference and I'll update the post later.
