nucleartractor Posted May 19, 2007 Report Share Posted May 19, 2007 My hardware for the problem computer is:WD Caviar 2.1 GB ATA 66AMD Mobile 2800+ Athlon 64480 MB PC32001.5 MB S3 powergraphI am trying to upgrade from windows 3.1 to windows NT 4.0. When ever I try to install, some of the files won't copy to THIS SPECIFIC hard drive. Any ideas as to why? I don't think its a driver thing because in past experience my motherboard (PCCHIPS A31g) has never needed a driver for hardware for DOS. Things just work. In the BIOS, I can set support for new hardware for dos. I have no idea what's wrong, but most versions of linux have proven to be incompatible with this machine. Boris Posted May 19, 2007 Report Share Posted May 19, 2007 Your drive is only 2.1GB ?I expect this is part of the problem ?Your processor + RAM far exceed the minimum spec required to instal it.I presume you are trying to install Windows NT 4.0 Workstation rather thanNT 4.0 Server, or NT 4.0 Server Enterprise Edition or NT 4.0 Terminal ServerWhat motherboard are you using ?
