Adding British and Danish Language to WinXP via the DLL Files

Hi I would like to add two additional keyboard (layouts) languages to my Windows XP. At the moment I only have the opportunity of choosing US keyboard layout, I have found the two dll files that apparently should be the danish and british keyboard layout: kbdda.dll and kbduk.dll.

I have tried to install them via the right click menu, and via the cmd prompt with regsvr32 kbdxx.dll. Both after placing them in the system32 folder.

You will need to edit the Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ keyboard layout\ preload, change the "1" value setting to the Key name listed below next to the keyboard layout name you want. You will also need to expand the file in the File Name listed below to the System32 Folder. You can use System Sentry's "Inflate a File" feature to install the file.

Does anyone know how I might go about adding these keyboard layouts to my menu in the control panel -> regional and language options menu?

You are right - additional keyboard layouts are added via Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | tab Languages | click on Details. Here you can use the Add button to add keyboard layouts.

The thing is that I don't have the English British language or Danish keyboard there. When i change the language to English (UK) and then go to keyboard layout there is only listed (US) (US-International) and a few other US languages.

I have the DLL Files for the keyboard layout though, how can I install them in other ways than the ones I have already tried.

You can install em through a Windows CD, cant remember the full way to do it, but as i remember, all you need to do is insert the CD when you got windows running, then a setup screen will autorun, and there you'll find it...

And why do you want the british layout (my guess is your danish - as me) - cause if you f.x. run a G15 logitech keyboard, its proberly shipped with US layout, and then all you need is danish and US to have access to all keys (US keyboards are slightly different, so you'll miss the < > \ keys unless you turn on US when needed...)

In that case something with your Windows installation is wrong - maybe some files corrupt or missing. I have no problem selecting British or Danish keyboard layout

If you DONT install the full language packages on install, it will be missing...

I read on another forum that this was due to Internet Explorer v7 being included in nLite when creating a Windows XP ISO. I tried on without IE7 and it worked fine, despite that now it wont let me install it. But I will live with that.
