The text underneath where the icon should be is still there and so is the little arrow at the bottom left of where the icon should be. I have searched the internet and tried all the tips and tricks but none of them have worked so far.It happened when i was trying to install some software and the computer just suddenly shut down and rebooted.Any ideas, anyone. Raddy Posted May 28, 2007 Report Share Posted May 28, 2007 Click on the text of the icon so that it is highlighted, right-click and select Properties on the drop down list. Go to the Shortcut tab click on the button "Change Icon." It should open up to the file where the icon for that program is stored, and you can select it. If it is not at the folder where the icon is stored, you can usually locate it by opening up "Program Files" and going to the folder for that program. You might have to look around for a bit.An alternative to searching through the folder for the icon is opening up the the Search bar in Windows Explorer and searching *.ico.
