jointchief
My problem is that before I have burnt data onto a CD/DVD, I customize what is to be burnt into folders and surely enough I change the icons of these foldersinto something other than the standard folder icon of Windows.. ( I have been using .ico files as my icons)All is great up until the time comes to burn with Nero..Once burnt and I re-insert the disc to view the data, all the customized icons have disappeared and Im stuck with them boring looking Windows icons..Theres probably some tweak or something small that I am missing but I have no idea what it could be..I need help please.. This is really frustrating..Thanks in advance..
mcb2001
first of all, you need to include, AND link to an ico file, placed on the disc (hereby meaning the same folder) so you get them on the DVD.Second of all, you should use the built in dvd-burner (built into windows XP and newer) to burn the dvd, if you wanna preserve folder views. I dont understand what you mean by AND link to an ico file

ithonicfury
Maybe try using 300x300 JPEG images in the folders named folder.jpg to create the folder icons instead?*edit, nm i think i misunderstood, sounds like your replacing the folder icon completely, not adding a folder image for thumbnail view. Scarecrow Man
the icon file has to be in the same location as the file in which it is showing an icon for.If you burn a file to D:\, your icon file needs to be on D:\ as well, and you need to modify the autorun.inf to point to this file. So, you need an icon.ico file, and an autorun.inf file with the following line:[autorun]icon=IocnFileName.icoI imagine if you burn this file along with the other files it should work. The .ico file can be anywhere on the disc, but the autorun.inf MUST be on the root.

It just displays an icon.I apologize, but the method I described above is only for the CD icon itself. If you make an icon for a program or folder, the icon is specific to the system and I do not believe it can be burned to a CD.
