User not in TelnetClients group

Recommended Posts

I am trying to connect to a Windows machine using Telnet. The service is running, but whenever I try to connect I get the error "User is not in TelnetClients group, access denied". I tried creating a local group on the machine called "TelnetClients" and adding my username to that group, but I still receive the same error. I have admin rights to the box and originally the TelnetClients group wasn't even on that machine so I am not sure why it keeps telling me I am not a member. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much.

Mike

I am not sure I follow you. Do you mean under the properties of the service in the Log On tab? The telnet server is not really a server per se, just another Windows 2000/XP box. I believe the option under the Services properties/Log on tab is set to "Local System Account".

Thanks!
