Michael___ Posted June 19, 2007 Report Share Posted June 19, 2007 I am trying to connect to a Windows machine using Telnet. The service is running, but whenever I try to connect I get the error "User is not in TelnetClients group, access denied". I tried creating a local group on the machine called "TelnetClients" and adding my username to that group, but I still receive the same error. I have admin rights to the box and originally the TelnetClients group wasn't even on that machine so I am not sure why it keeps telling me I am not a member. mcb2001 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Share Posted June 19, 2007 my guess is that you might have to setup the user restriction on the actual telnet service on the server, not in the windows user groups, since it properly to different things, though linked together via the user verification system. The telnet server is not really a server per se, just another Windows 2000/XP box. I believe the option under the Services properties/Log on tab is set to "Local System Account".Thanks!
