Explorer Problems

Hello guys,

This is my first post here so I might as well take this opportunity to say hi to everyone!

I came to you out of desperacy, I've tried a few things but as the title describes, explorer broke!

I am still able to run programs but if I want to access the recycle bin, my computer, or any

folder - even new ones that I create on my desktop, my explorer.exe closes without warning

and restarts within a second, so whenever I want to open a single file, I have to go to start -> Run

and then select it from there, how annoying is that!? And Also random pop-ups come up even if my

browser is closed - here's the funny part: I use Firefox and the popups open in IE, wtf?

Now I think I already know why this is happening, Norton (my Firewall and Anti-Virus) keeps trying

to block Trojan.Vundo and Infostealer (whatever that is, probably a keylogger) from connecting to

the Internet so I know I'm infected but I run the scan with Norton and I can't find anything... GARR!!

I scanned my registry etc. with "RegistrySmart" and that program found roughly 8.500 problems, all

removed but 4 or 5, still no fix for the problem, I'm going to run another scan right now just to make

sure but I still need help, please someone help me with this!!! :(

Thanks in advance,

-Kevin

Hello and welcome to Windows Forum.

It seems you are infected quite severely and need more than Norton and RegistrySmart (whatever that is) to clean you up.

As an initial clean up, try Ccleaner click here then one or more of:

AVG Antispyware

A squared.

Spybot S & D

Ad Aware

If these don't improve things come back and we will give directions for you to use HiJackThis and submit the scan for analysis.
